Parc Natural de Ses Salines
d’Eivissa i Formentera

Hostal Mar y Sal is located in the Ses Salines Natural Park, surrounded by wild nature, dunes, pine forests, trails, and dirt paths. It is nestled within a uniquely exceptional landscape that includes the salt flats and a white sandy beach with turquoise blue waters and breathtaking views of the island of Formentera. The natural park is a protected area spanning over fifteen thousand hectares, situated between Ibiza and Formentera. In Ibiza, it encompasses the wetlands of Ses Salines, the beaches of Es Codolar, Canal de s'Olla, Las Salinas, and Es Cavallet, as well as the strait of Es Freus that separates Ibiza and Formentera. Although it was already a nature reserve, the Ses Salines area was declared a natural park in 2001, and its seagrass meadows, which are of great importance for water quality, have been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. Visiting this natural park is definitely worth it, especially due to the wide variety of ecosystems it harbors. Here, you can explore dune systems, lagoons, sandy and rocky beaches, marshes, cliffs, and much more

Hostal Mar y Sal, surrounded by the best beaches in Ibiza

Near our hotel, you will find well-known beaches such as Ses Salines, Es Cavallet, and Playa d'en Bossa. One beach that stands out is Ses Salines, also known as Migjorn Beach, which is located next to Es Cavallet Beach, just a stone's throw away from our hostel. This beach has nothing to envy to the Caribbean beaches and, perhaps for that reason, it has become one of the most famous in Ibiza. Its white, fine sand and clear, transparent waters make it a special place frequented by thousands of visitors to the island. We recommend visiting other iconic places in Ibiza, such as Sa Canal, the former village of salt workers; Cap d'es Falcó, an impressive cliff between Ses Salines and des Codolar beaches; the islet of Es Vedrà, the most enigmatic place on the island of Ibiza; or the city of Ibiza itself, with its traditional neighborhoods of Dalt Vila, La Marina, the port, or l'Eixample. And for fun-filled nights, it's worth experiencing the atmosphere of clubs like DC-10 or Hï Ibiza, located just a few minutes' drive from our accommodation. You won't regret it!

What to do in Ibiza

Sant Jordi de Ses Salines is a small village in Ibiza. The town center, now converted into a residential area, is dominated by a majestic fortified church of typical Ibiza style, which is a must-visit. Surrounded by a courtyard filled with flowers and palm trees, it is one of the best-preserved churches in all of Ibiza. It was built in the 15th century to meet the religious needs of the salt workers. Its fortified structure is due to its past role in defending against pirate attacks. Sant Jordi is also known for its extensive and well-known beaches such as Ses Salines, Es Cavallet, and Playa d'en Bossa; its popular second-hand market held every Saturday morning; the salt flats of Ibiza, and a spectacular natural environment that is part of the Ses Salines Natural Park. Additionally, as the town center is home to a wide variety of bars, restaurants, and terraces, it offers an excellent option for dining out.
